Human Variability

Anthropometry

What is it?

‘Science that deals with the measurement of the size, weight, and proportion of the human body’, if we take this into the office environment for example…we are all different in shape and size yet we all seem to sit in the same chair…

Static Posture – the measurements of humans in rigid standardized posture, in basic terms it describes a situation where we keep the same posture or position for an extended period of time. Holding a static posture such as sitting for prolonged periods places much discomfort on the body. The lack of motion  can impede our joints making by making them stiff and painful to use.

Dynamic Posture – the measurements of the limits of movement of the body, in basic terms dynamic posture is based on the principle of action rather than holding certain positions for long periods of time.

How Will It Help?

You wouldn't buy a pair of shoes 2 sizes too small!  So, having a chair that is good fit makes complete sense as well.  All office equipment is designed with a particular type of user in mind, that's why chairs such as the Herman Miller Aeron chair comes in 3 sizes and others, such as the RH Logic chairs, come with a large range of adjustable features so that the chair can be tailored to suit the user perfectly.  And getting a chair that fits means you are supported throughout the day - helping you to perform better.

If you are not sure which chair would suit you best please contact us for the right advice.
