Herman Miller Sayl Side Chair

Herman Miller has collaborated with designer Yves Behar to come up with the new SAYL side chair and Sayl Task chair. The design is inspired by the thought of a suspension bridge with sailing vessels floating close by. The sail is reflected in the name, Sayl, and look of the chair, while the bridge is reflected in the frameless back structure and colourful materials.

The Sayl side chair comes with a choice of plastic back or fully upholstered back on a sled base.

Design Story

With SAYL task & side chairs, Yves Béhar’s (designer of the Herman Miller Leaf light) set out to design and build a chair family that gives form to that spirit. Inspired by the principles of suspension bridges, the frameless back of the SAYL work chair encourages a full range of movement while the suspension back material keeps you cool—all with an extremely small environmental impact. It is everything a Herman Miller chair should be. At a very attainable price.
