Eames Plastic Armchairs are from the same family of chairs as the Eames Plastic Side chairs but with increased height in the sides of the chairs to provide built in armrests. These organically shaped chairs were first created by Charles and Ray Eames in 1950 as part of the New York Museum of Modern Art's "low cost furniture design" competition and have evolved from the original design with a variety of different bases and to include an upholstered seat for added comfort.
