The new Vitra Tip Ton defines a whole new chair: a solid plastic chair with forward-tilt action that is stackable!
Designed by Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby, its name refers to the two types of sitting experiences - from a normal position or tilted a few degrees forward, where it then stays in place. The innovation behind this seemingly simple feature lies in the skid base, which rise at a nine-degree angle. The forward-tilt sitting position, until now the preserve of office chairs, straightens the pelvis and spine and thus improves circulation to the abdominal & back muscles.
Tip Ton is an outstanding dining table or occasional home-office solution and, thanks to it's stack ability, it is also ideal for use in restaurants, conference and meeting spaces and schools.
Edward Barber, born in Shrewsbury in 1969, and Jay Osgerby, born in Oxford in 1969, studied architecture and interior design as fellow students at the Royal College of Art in London. In 1996, they founded their own studio for design and architecture under the name Barber & Osgerby.
